This lecture encourages adult learners to look beyond the pretty designs of Art Nouveau and understand the ideas, cultural influences, and artistic changes that defined this important movement. Originating in Europe and the U.S. in the 1890s and lasting until World War I, Art Nouveau broke down traditional boundaries between fine art, architecture, and decorative arts. Its flowing lines, natural shapes, plant motifs, and focus on craftsmanship aimed to create a unified style where art was part of everyday life.
