About this event
Athenian's BIPOC Affinity Camp was founded in 2021 in partnership with the Attles Center for Excellence, and provides a two-week, overnight summer camp free of charge or "pay-what-you-can" for rising 8th grade BIPOC campers. Our overnight BIPOC camp aims to creates a safe space for Black, Indigenous, and Students of Color to feel seen, heard, validated, and empowered. Teaching our youth to be united through our similarities while celebrating our differences is critical in cultivating a better understanding of one another and how we can uplift each other. Our aim is for BIPOC youth and allies to connect over leadership skills, innovation and design, and outdoor adventure. In addition to programming on belonging, identity, leadership, innovation and adventure, we facilitate campers' reflections on their self-determination within the educational experience. If you'd like to donate towards BIPOC so that our camp can remain accessible to all BIPOC youth no matter their financial ability, please visit our donation page here: https://tinyurl.com/BIPOCcamp
