About this event
In this class we will explore the geological processes that built our local landscape. We will talk about how mid-cost Maine formed and how our local rocks came to be. Also, we will review glaciers and how they helped to design our landscape. Some general knowledge of geology will help since we will focus on our region. After retirement from flying helicopters for the Army, Pete Streker went back to school dual majoring in education and geology. Eventually he earned a Masters of Education for Earth Sciences. He has taught middle school science and high school Earth/Space Sciences and is a certified Physical Sciences teacher in Maine. He has had the opportunity to travel to many places on our beautiful Earth with his wonderful wife and daughters exploring cultures, places, and geology. Combining their interests, they do a lot of outdoor recreation and indoor museum exploration.
