About this event
The night sky is full of wonders and mysteries. This course will help unravel some of that mystery as we learn about our solar system, the constellations, and deep sky objects. We’ll discuss the motions of the moons and planets, meteor showers, eclipses, and other interesting sights. The course will include software recommendations for learning the constellations and information about binoculars and telescopes. You don’t need expensive equipment to get started in astronomy; just a little knowledge and clear skies. There will be an optional outdoor viewing session (outside the regular class times), with the date and time to be set based on student availability and weather. Wayne Barber has been a lifelong sky-watcher and has been teaching astronomy and sharing views of the night sky for many years. He is a native Mainer who enjoys Maine's dark skies and encourages their preservation.
