This Ceramics course is designed for seniors interested in exploring the art and craft of pottery, providing a hands-on introduction to basic ceramic techniques. Students will learn fundamental skills such as hand-building, wheel throwing, glazing, and firing, while gaining an understanding of the creative and technical aspects of working with clay. Emphasis will be placed on personal expression, craftsmanship, and developing a deeper appreciation of ceramics.
Supplies will be provided.
Instructor: Jennifer Christiansen, experienced potter for over 24 years.
In 2006, Jennifer began my pottery journey with a simple class at the local community college. With her first class, she focused on handbuilding with clay. In the following class, Jennifer moved to the pottery wheel and she was hooked. Jennifer continues to fine tune her craft on the pottery wheel. Her focus in on creating functional pieces with strong bold glazes. Jennifer is currently the owners and teacher at Art Space on the Coast in Pacifica CA. You can find Jennifer’s pottery at various retail sites in the SF Bay Area.
