A 90-min drop-in workshop with your Clown Mother
All 18+ humans welcome. No experience necessary.
Registration is free, with donations collected at the end for the artist, sliding scale $15-25 suggested. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. Pre-registration is strongly recommended as space is limited; drop-in participants will be welcomed if space allows.
Are you clown curious? Tired of not knowing what your body is up to? Needing to access and appreciate your truest self?
Whether you are a seasoned performer looking to go deeper into presence and audience connection or an adult human who just wants to access the wonder that is your birthright, a clown practice will return you to your center and show you just how essentially lovable you truly are.
Bring yourself, clothes you can move in and water to sip on. Your Clown Mother will provide the rest.
In this 90-minute drop-in, you will:
-Drop out of the head and into the body-(re-)Discover means of communication outside of spoken language-Slow into deeper connection with yourself and those around you-Be silly and serious at the same time-Experience the joy of making others laugh from a deeply true part of yourself
What students are saying:
“Anne’s teaching gives me access to a grounded, primal, less judgmental version of myself. I’ve learned the importance of simplicity, failure, connection with the audience, and connection with myself in a way that’s changed my experience of performing.”
“Anne will push you out of your comfort zone, and will also make you feel completely comfortable doing so. I'd highly recommend.”
“Anne was able to quickly create a psychologically safe space in which she also gave direct, in-the-moment feedback that I could implement in real time. Not a single moment of the class was wasted and I felt very comfortable taking risks.”
Clown Mother (Anne Zander - she/her) is a queer, neurodivergent mother, clown, character creator and a "completely ridiculous... completely vulnerable" international touring artist whose two solo shows - "MOTHER" and "JUICEBOX" - have brought audiences to laughter and tears from coast to coast (BroadwayWorld). She will hold you in her (figurative) mother's embrace and then gently push you out of the nest.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
There is no physical contact between participants and/or facilitator/participants without explicit consent. Consent may be withdrawn at any time.
Masks are welcome.
This space is explicitly inclusive of all races, sexualities, genders, body sizes, and disabilities.
This is an explicitly harassment-free space. Any violation of guidelines agreed to in terms and conditions will result in ejection.
