We will carry all of our own gear as a group. To help manage weight, we will divide items like tents and cooking equipment among participants.
How to Prepare:• Aim to walk 30 minutes to an hour every day.• Whenever possible, walk in the mountains or on hilly terrain to get used to elevation and changes in grade.• If you don’t have access to hills, use a treadmill. Challenge yourself by gradually increasing your pace and incline.• If comfortable and appropriate for your fitness level, consider adding a weighted vest to simulate carrying a backpack.
Strength Training:Include strength training at least two times a week. Perform 3 sets of 12 repetitions for each exercise listed below.
• Squats• Lunges• Bridges• Shoulder presses• Push-ups• Planks• Side planks
These exercises will help build the stability and strength needed for carrying gear, hiking uneven terrain, and supporting your body throughout the trip.
