Due 1st class - Lab Fee $30.00
Botanical Printmaking is a natural dyeing and contact printing technique that uses leaves, flowers, and other plant materials to create one-of-a kind permanent patterns and colors on natural fabric and paper. Students will learn and practice the fundamentals of botanical printmaking on natural fabrics as well as paper. Students will learn:- how to prepare and mordant fabric and paper for printmaking- how to identify, forage/grow, and use strong printing foliage and other natural material for botanical printing- how to create dye baths from common natural dye matter- how to use barriers and dye blankets- how to bundle, roll and finish fabric
Lab Fee:$20.00
Class provides:- Dyes, mordants, tools and equipment for bundling and steaming- Fabric and paper for the first 4 classes- Foliage/flowers for the first 4 classes For the last 4 classes students are required to bring their own natural fabric, foliage, and flowers. Student cloth may be no larger than 16 inches wide by 40 inches long (smaller is fine). Thrifted clothing/fabric must adhere to the same size requirement of 16” by 40”.
