Interested in delving into the world of backpacking but not sure where to begin?
In part 1 of this series, learn how to choose and pack your bag so that you have everything you need for your trip. Then, get comfortable carrying your pack with a short 1-mile hike around the Nature Center. Stop by the Middle Patuxent River to learn how to filtrate your water.
In part 2, explore the variety of tents used by backpackers and take a 2–3-mile hike around the Middle Patuxent Environmental Area.
