About this event
What if something you built in class could actually help someone in your community? In this hands-on engineering course, students will design and build assistive technology solutions for real community members using the Smart Servo platform. Guided by a human-centered design framework, students move from concept to working prototype starting in their very first session. Throughout the eight-week course, students will: • Apply design thinking to solve real-world challenges • Explore mechanical systems including gear systems, linear motion, flexible mounting, and adaptive gripping • Build and test functional servo-driven mechanisms • Learn foundational programming concepts to control mechanical systems • Prototype, test, iterate, and improve their designs • Present their final working solution Students will experience what real engineers do — identifying needs, designing solutions, testing ideas, and refining their work through iteration. No prior engineering or programming experience is required — just a willingness to think critically, collaborate, and build. At BrandywineBOTS, we empower the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers through hands-on STEM experiences - and this course brings engineering to life in a meaningful way.
