Senior high students have the opportunity to be involved in an exciting week long ministry with the Diocese of Duluth, serving as a Junior Counselor (JC). Those servings as JCs have the opportunity to change lives through their personal involvement at Camp Survive. JUNIOR COUNSELORS (completed 10th, 11th, or 12th grade) Junior Counselor’s are staff volunteers who work alongside college-age staff, seminarians, & youth ministers in specific areas of ministry to the campers. Program Overview: JCs are a vital part of the camp community. They eat, sleep, work and pray with other students like themselves. Students may develop some of their strongest friendships while at Camp because of the intense nature of their time spent together. The JC program is essentially a short-term mission trip. These students aren’t campers, they are more like “missionaries.” Applicant’s should be mature students of high moral character who have a desire to strengthen their faith & share that faith with others. Must be age 15 or older by 9/1/26. TRAINING & DATES: This summer we will have TWO weeks of Camp Survive with ONE weekend of training. Training will be held at Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Crosslake, MN, July 25-26, 2026. The reason only one weekend of training will be offered is two-fold; we felt that it is important to have all that are serving during both weeks to come together & this provides those serving both weeks an opportunity to have a brief break. Week 1 of Camp will be July 27-31, and will be held at Big Sandy Camp. JCs serving during this first week will be expected to be at training in Crosslake from Sat morning, July 25 to Sun, July 26, 2026, & serve at camp at Big Sandy from July 27-31. Week 2 of Camp will be Aug 3-7, and will be held at Big Sandy Camp. JCs serving during this second week will be expected to be at training in Crosslake from Sat morning, July 25 to Sun, July 26, 2026, & arrive at Big Sandy Camp Sun, Aug 2 at 1:00pm to serve through Fri, Aug 7.
