Description

Chesterfield County was once a major center of coal mining. This important resource was quickly used to fuel foundries which made the all-important cannon artillery for wars from the American Revolution to the Civil War. This lecture will focus on Chesterfield's connection to the Westham, Bellona, and Tredegar foundries. The speaker will be Chuck Young of the American Civil War Museum.
