Description
This event at c1841 Strachan House and 1864-1865 Point of Rocks Civil War Hospital Site will allow our public to experience much of what happened on those historic grounds through the Civil War period. Living history interpreters will tell the stories of the Strachan family and enslaved people who lived there. Other interpreters portraying the Surry Light Artillery will demonstrate artillery. Much of the event will be devoted to the Union Army's occupation of Point of Rocks of 1864. Other activities will include portrayal of surgical staff and nursing along with tours of the house and grounds including walking in the footsteps of President Abraham Lincoln during his visit to the site in March 1865.
