About this event
Description
Join environmental educators from Rockwood Nature Center on a guided hike for both amateur and avid herpetologists - scientists who study reptiles and amphibians! The survey will examine the biodiversity of parks and conservation areas in Chesterfield County while participants flip logs, scour wetlands, and hike creek beds collecting data on our native reptiles and amphibians. Dress for your exploration -- long pants, boots and snake hooks are recommended. Closed-toe shoes are required. Note: Transportation is not provided.Program information:
- Program is held outdoors. Access to restrooms and potable water may be limited.
- Guardians are required to accompany participants, no drop-offs.
- Hiking footwear is required.
- Distance traveled will be between 1 and 3 miles.
- Outdoor surfaces traveled on in this program include gravel and dirt trails with roots and uneven surfaces, fields, boardwalk, dense underbrush and muddy areas.
- This program includes visual, auditory and tactile elements.
