About this event
Description
This 4-week series offers strategies to support people living with chronic pain or illness or recovering from a medical intervention. Each class will include one or two somatic awareness skills to reduce tension and increase the body's sense of safety. We will practice tools that encourage the nervous system to shift toward a calmer state. We then have a short, gentle guided movement experience. We will enjoy uplifting music, and connect with rhythm, flow, and gentle expansion. This will look different for each person. Movement may be as 'small' as swaying in your seat or tapping your hands to the beat. It can be done seated, standing, or supported by the chair when standing. For those with very limited energy or range of movement, experiencing music with others while moving in small ways offers benefits. The program will support your confidence in exploring movement and music as tools for pain management and offer positive social connection. Participants should consult with their health care providers prior to the class.
