About this event
Description
This is a fun, light course for those interested in this truly wonderful percussion instrument. The Bodhran is an Irish frame-drum played with a double-ended stick (or tipper), making it capable of producing the intricate jig and reel rhythms of traditional Celtic music (among others). This course will provide info on the history of the drum, types of drums, the basics of playing, as well as introduce you to the structure of traditional rhythms and Irish music. A few extra bodhrans will be provided for those that are curious to learn but may not have their own drum. Please let us know if you have a drum or not at registration. Bring a bodhran or other frame drum if you have one. Storm Date: March 26A few extra bodhrans will be provided for those that are curious to learn but may not have their own drum.
