Batty for Bats
Bats are probably one of nature's most mysterious mammals. They capture our imagination, and for some people can conjure feelings of fear just at the sight of them. But despite their portrayal in pop culture, bats have an incredible and important role in our ecosystem. Each one can potentially eat hundreds of insects each night - like mosquitos! And in some parts of the world there are crops that rely on bats for pollination - such as avocado, agave, and mangoes.
There's so much to learn and love about bats, which is why anyone interested in finding out more about these amazing animals should join us at Northwest River Park. We'll go over what makes bats so unique, how we can help, and we'll identify which ones are flying overhead in our area. So come on out so you can be batty for bats too!
