About this event
Calling all creative makers—if you’ve ever wanted to explore the world of fiber art, this is your camp! This immersive, hands-on experience introduces high school students to a wide range of textile techniques while encouraging experimentation and personal expression. Students will learn the foundations of: needle felting, wet felting, embroidery, needle tapestry weaving, Japanese kumihimo braiding, and basic sewing construction. From sculptural felted figures and handmade dolls to woven bags, painted and embellished fabrics, and simple quilted pieces, the possibilities are wide open. Each technique is taught step-by-step at a beginner-friendly level, making the camp welcoming to both first-time stitchers and experienced makers looking to expand their skills.Throughout the week, students will explore fiber not just as craft—but as a contemporary art form. We’ll discuss texture, pattern, color, and storytelling through materials, and students will be encouraged to develop projects that reflect their own creative voice.
