SAORI weaving is a gentle, mindful and meditative process which emphasizes improvisation and creative expression. This hands-on class teaches students the SAORI weaving method, founded by Misao Jo in Japan in 1968. She was criticized for a mistake in her weaving, but she said, "That's why it's beautiful". In SAORI, there are no mistakes in the weaving process - they are called "Happy Accident!".

In this meditative art form, the weaver becomes completely absorbed and fully immersed into the woven art they are creating. Each student works on their own, simple foot pedal SAORI loom - perfect for beginners! This class runs 2 hours. Fee includes instructional teaching by Chiaki O'Brien, all materials and loom rental.
