Join skilled storytellers for a cup of coffee and candid conversation that entertains, educates, and encourages a sense of wonder about science and the natural world around us. This speaker series hosts guest lecturers and light refreshments. Join Derek Gerson, Chandler Nature Center Supervisor and native plant expert, for an engaging look into the wildflowers of the Sonoran Desert. This presentation will guide participants through wildflower identification, explain how these remarkable plants grow and survive in desert conditions, while highlighting their essential role in supporting pollinators. Derek will also discuss invasive plant species that are threatening Arizona’s native flora and what we can do to protect our fragile Sonoran Desert ecosystem for future generations.
