Northwest MedWAR

MedWAR is short for Medical Wilderness Adventure Race. It is a unique event that combines wilderness medical challenges with the growing sport of adventure racing. The race was also developed as a tool for teaching and testing the knowledge, skills, and techniques of wilderness medicine, and for promoting teamwork and collegiality among competitors. 

Pacific Northwest Wilderness Medicine (PNWM) has partnered with MedWAR to bring the Medical Wilderness Adventure Race back to Washington State for another year. The inaugural MedWAR was developed and hosted by emergency physicians and medical students from the Medical College in Georgia in the fall of 2000. Since then, MedWAR Challenge has grown to include races all over the country every year.  PNWM is excited to host our own MedWAR, this time set in the beautiful Southwest Washington this fall.

There are limited spots available, so be sure to act fast. We can't wait to see you in-person on race day.

Race Format: Teams of four run and navigate through trails and beautiful forest scenery to find challenging medical simulations and answer questions along the way.

6:45 AM Volunteer check-in; please arrive at this time
7:00 AM Racer check-in, please arrive as close to this time as possible: Volunteer meeting for preceptors and patients
7:30 AM racer meeting
8 AM race begins
19:00 Post-race dinner, awards & educational presentation
20:00 Post-race camping & celebration

All persons attending just for race day (not camping) need to have a discover pass.

*Racers will have the opportunity to submit their T-shirt size upon registration to receive an exclusive Northwest MedWAR event shirt. Disclaimer: please register early to ensure that your shirt can arrive by race day. 

Cancellation/Substitution Policy: If your entire MedWAR team cannot make it to the event we will offer a full refund up to one month before the event and 50% refund up to 2 weeks before the event. Less than 2 weeks before the event we cannot offer any refunds. If there is an emergency that makes it so your team cannot attend please reach out to us to discuss. Teams may compete with 3 racers, but no less.
