Learn to sew! In this class you will learn both machine sewing and hand sewing techniques. In machine sewing you will learn how to make a small envelope pillow with pillow insert, a zippered pouch, a key fob, and small tote among other things. Along the way you will also learn sewing machine safety and sewing basics such as how to use and care for the machine, measuring and cutting fabric, and use of sewing tools. In hand sewing you will learn the whipstitch, ladder stitch, and how to sew on a button. Sewing machines will be supplied but feel free to bring your own working machine if you'd like. Tools will be supplied. Class is suitable for ages 10-13. Instructor Sandy Clement has been teaching sewing classes for over 10 years. She has sewn since she was a child and has found it to be a valuable life-long skill. She has helped with costuming for local school and theater groups.
