Prerequisite(s): current MRU student.
Come and transcend recreation with us! This is a new program offered in collaboration with the SAMRU Pride Centre focused on providing opportunities for MRU students of any 2SLGBTQ+ identity to connect with one another and find joy in play and moving their bodies. Each session will involve a different physical activity and will be facilitated by student members of the community.
Outdoor events will be moved indoors in the case of inclement weather. Registration for each event will be open for two weeks leading up to the event date. You may register for any of the event dates regardless of prior participation in the program, and day-of registration for each event can be supported by the program facilitators if spots are available at the start time.
Program Location
Program ScheduleEvents will occur generally every second Friday from 1-3pm (supplemental event days may fall outside this schedule). Unless otherwise noted, participants will meet with program facilitators at the MRU Pride Centre at 1pm (folks are welcome to arrive prior to 1pm and hang out) and will then be led over to the activity space for that session. The Winter 2026 activity schedule is as follows:
- Friday February 6th 1-3pm | Info & Board Games
- Friday February 27th 1-3pm | Roller Skating
- Friday March 6th 1-3pm | Climbing
- Friday March 13th 1-3pm | Bike Maintence
- Friday March 27th 1-3om | Wrap Up Event (Film TBD)
To ensure your best experience we recommend you attend this program with:
- Active clothing and footwear (activity-specific clothing recommendations will be provided where appropriate).
- Any individual equipment required for each activity; group equipment and individual rental equipment will be provided as needed.
- Single-user gender neutral changerooms with showers are available in the Recreation Centre in addition to the group women's and men's changerooms.
