We're sorry, but this activity is over. The last meeting was Tuesday, August 11, 2020.During the Great Depression, a new movement started among folklorists and and members of the American left to use folk music as an instrument of social change. The goal was to create performances that would appeal to the American working class. Much of this material was recorded for small, independent record labels or in limited editions distributed at meetings and rallies. Out of this group of progressives sprang the pioneers of the urban folk revival of the 1960s: Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Josh White, and others who used the idealism of their causes to initiate their musical careers. (8 classes). NO CLASS 7/21.
This will be a VIRTUAL CLASS taught via Zoom. You will need access to a phone or computer that has the Zoom app downloaded. Virtual class link will be emailed out within 24 hours of class start time. Please make sure email on file is up to date.
