This class will explore the development and performance of contemporary American popular music including listening to examples, discussion of specific representative repertoire, as well as the producers, composers, artists and performers associated with each. Significant popular musical styles of rock, jazz, folk, blues, musical theater and other genres are compared and contrasted. Lectures discuss significant trends and developments in American popular musical style as represented in contemporary society and the mainstream media. (9 classes) *This class will be offered virtually and in-person - 5/24 & 5/31 will be offered virtually only
This presentation will be offered virtually and in-person. If you wish to attend virtually, you will need access to a phone or computer that has the Zoom app downloaded. Virtual class link will be emailed out 24 hours prior to the start of the class. Please make sure the email on file is up to date.**City of Calabasas Vaccine and Mask Requirements**Proof of vaccination (or negative COVID test taken within 72 hours) required to enter all indoor City facilities. Masks are REQUIRED and MUST be worn at all times while indoors.
