The Cudas Maintenance Swimming program is the winter subdivision of the Burnaby Barracudas. The program is designed to help maintain and improve swimmers stroke technique during the winter off season of our summer program. At Cudas Winter Maintenance our goal is to help younger swimmers develop the confidence and skills they would like to have in the future. With a group of experienced coaches, we help many kids strive towards better basic knowledge of the water and confidence within themselves. Even though we do not compete in the fall or winter months, winter swimmers are still taught the same way, focusing on technique, overall speed and endurance.
Registration is split into two seasons, once in the winter from September to December and another during spring from January to April, swimming indoors at Bonsor Recreational Center. Both seasons focusing on similar aspects except the Spring session being slightly more competitive orientated just to give everyone the feel of teamwork and enjoyment before the next Barracuda season.
Competitors wishing to remain eligible to compete as summer swimmers are restricted to only two hours of training with a coach during the fall/winter season. Athletes who swim more than 2 hours a week coached will be categorized as OCAT swimmers in the summer.
