About this event
Participants will spend a week in New York City experiencing the arts, history and culture the city is known for. Led by Jon Starling and Brooke Gray, the group will fly out of Dallas Fort Worth International Airport and stay at Hotel Edison. Students will see high-level artistic performances on Broadway stages, choosing which shows to attend from a select list: Aladdin, Hadestown, Wicked, Hamilton, The Lion King, The Great Gatsby, Dolly and The Outsiders. (Shows will be chosen in the Fall) Participants will also explore American and World history through the American Museum of Natural History and the National parks, tour Columbia University and New York University, as well as enjoy local foods from vendors and some very popular restaurants. We are working on a service experience with a local organization. Students will also have time to walk through the 9/11 Museum, hear firsthand recorded accounts, see artifacts from the wreckage, and visit the on-site memorial. The trip cost through Brook Hill is $1,995. This covers the round-trip flight, group dinners, and event and show tickets, among other expenses. Each traveler should be prepared to cover a few smaller costs: the $35 American Airlines luggage fee (paid by card at the check-in desk), shopping and souvenirs, subway fare at $3.00 per ride (payable with Apple Pay or Google Pay), and breakfasts and some lunches. Please contact Jon Starling (jstarling@brookhill.org) or Brooke Gray (bgray@brookhill.org) for the most up to date information and itinerary for this trip.
