About this event
Are you interested in the medical field, but don't know where to start? Ever wonder what the tubes the phlebotomist uses are for, and how many to draw? Why are there so many different colors of tubes and needles? how do they know if it's a vein? This course will answer your questions. This Phlebotomy course is designed to provide students with the knowledge and practical skills needed to safely and efficiently perform blood collection (venipuncture) and related laboratory procedures. The course prepare individuals for entry-level positions as phlebotomists in hospitals, clinics, laboratories, and other healthcare settings. An enrollment, interview and CASAS assessment are pre-requisites for acceptance to this course. Background checks and immunization records are required for optional externship. All textbooks, lab materials, tuition, and the national certification exam (1) fee are covered in the course cost. For this session, grant funding is available to cover these costs. Students are responsible for the cost of uniforms and shoes, which should not be purchased prior to acceptance. Students will also be responsible for the cost of optional exam study prep material if desired.
