10 wks *No class Feb 17 Experience level: All Levels In this class, students will encounter and explore the fundamentals of drawing in color. Through guided exercises and projects, students will practice with foundational tools of color, such as hue, value, and saturation, using these and other elements to build tone, mood, rhythm, and luminosity within their works. The course will introduce students to the basics of a number of color media, using chalk and oil pastels, colored pencils, and cut-paper collage to craft compelling color compositions from both life and reference. The class will culminate with students each designing themselves a final project assignment to more deeply explore or refine one of the skills or processes introduced in class; these projects will be supported by feedback from both instructor and classmates informed by each student’s individual project goals.
