About this event
Please note that the time for this class is 5:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Explore the power of color in oil painting with Michael E. Vermette in this studio course focused on color theory. Students will learn hue, value, intensity, and warm and cool color relationships while exploring how color creates light, depth, atmosphere, and emotion. Through demonstrations of traditional and expressive techniques, students will paint subjects of their choice—including landscapes, portraits, still lifes, figures, or abstracts—with ample studio time each class. Recommended for painters with some experience, this course strengthens color knowledge while helping artists develop their own creative style. Suggested supply list will be emailed upon registration. To receive a supply list before registering, please call 941-6316. Michael E. Vermette double majored in Painting and Printmaking at the Maine College of Art, receiving his B.F.A Painting degree in 1980. He has been a certified K-12 Art Educator for 32 years. A full-time artist and part-time teacher, Michael has been painting in watercolor for over fifty years and has won numerous awards for his figurative watercolor paintings, including the Loran Coleman, Beverly, and Marilyn Sabin Awards at the New England Watercolor Society where he is a signature member. For his oil paintings, Michael was a first place winner of the Castine Plein Air Festival in Castine, Maine and a multiple participant of the Paint for Preservation Art Auction at Cape Elizabeth, Maine.
