Note: STEM Mash-Ups consist of morning and afternoon segments that cover two different topics, creating a well-rounded day. Two sessions of this combination are offered simultaneously, with the morning and afternoon content flipped. Sessions are otherwise identical. If your child is interested in taking a camp with a sibling or friend, please register them in the same session. You will select your preferred session once you reach the Active Network registration platform. If You Build It Become a Master Builder! LEGO Structures and Keva planks provide the engaging framework for understanding what forces make structures and buildings stand up (or fall down)—even during an earthquake! How do tents, skyscrapers, and bridges defy gravity? Columns, beams, cantilevers and more will be explored as we learn about the amazing world of construction. Bring your design ideas and creativity for a fulfilling week of structural adventures! Life in Ponds and Streams What secrets lie beneath the surface of the streams and ponds in our area? What animal left those unusual tracks along the water’s edge? What kind of nest is that between the branches above? What is the name of that insect that buried its larvae beneath the mud? Are all things in a pond or stream ecosystem somehow connected? We will answer these questions and many more as we explore the water systems throughout Boulder County. We will look at the smallest animals under a microscope and catch larger ones with a net. We'll make a diorama of an animal in its habitat, and create cattails to learn about the importance of this plant in our local marshes. Join us for this watery outdoor adventure! Food Contact Note: Campers will come in contact with eggs.
