Who – BASIS Independent Bothell 5th graders: 5Hg & 5Pb. What – Four days and three nights of adventure, learning, and growing. When – November 9-12, 2026 Where – IslandWood is going to be our host. Why – This is an amazing opportunity for our students to spend time with each other, and gain knowledge of the world and appreciation of nature. During the School Overnight Program, students do field investigations, practice collaborative problem solving, and engage with peers from other classrooms and schools. In the process, they discover more about their world and the positive impact they can have on their environment and community. Basis Information: Cost – The cost of $500 will include camp registration and transportation. Chaperones – IslandWood will be conducting most of the adventures for our Orcas, and some of our teachers and staff will be there as support and cabin leads. We will not have parent chaperones. Duration – All students who participate will need to stay at the camp for the four days, three nights listed. If this will be the first time away from home, it can get very emotional. We have more information coming to help with practicing, anticipating, and working through homesickness. RSVP – We will need your RSVP by October 23 (the Parent Info Session is 10/20 to hear all about the camp, and to ask your questions directly of IslandWood). Note: there will be no fifth grade classes occurring during the field trip days. Students who opt out of the field trip are welcome to come to campus during school hours and participate in study hall.
