About this event
Join Zoo New England's Conservation team for a guided nature walk through the beautiful Stony Brook Reservation in Boston. Step into the magic of spring with a guided vernal pool exploration! Curious what a vernal pool is? You’re not alone, and that’s part of the fun. Join our scientists as they lead you to one of these rare, seasonal wetlands and reveal the remarkable creatures that rely on them. From elusive amphibians to tiny aquatic invertebrates, you’ll discover an entire hidden world that appears only for a short time each year. A registration is required for each participant. Children under the age of 18 must have an adult registered with them. Terrain: Mostly paved trails, with some sections off the main path that include dirt, rocks, and moderate slopes. What to wear: We recommend long pants, tall socks, and closed‑toe shoes. The entire event will be held outdoors, so please dress appropriately for the weather. What to bring: We suggest bringing extra layers and a water bottle. A google maps link of where to meet will be included in your confirmation email. Please note that there are no restrooms at this site, so please plan accordingly!
