LVMPD Search & Rescue 5K & 1-Mile Fun Run

Join us for the LVMPD Search & Rescue 5K & 1-Mile Fun Run, a community event supporting the volunteer teams that help keep Southern Nevada’s outdoor spaces safe.

The LVMPD Search & Rescue teams respond to hundreds of missions each year across Clark County and the surrounding public lands. From the rugged terrain of Red Rock Canyon and Mount Charleston to remote desert areas, these highly trained volunteers work alongside the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the Bureau of Land Management, and the National Park Service to locate and rescue hikers, climbers, and outdoor enthusiasts in need.

This event brings the community together to support four specialized volunteer teams:

• Mountain Rescue Team – technical rescues in steep and remote terrain

• Lead Climb Team – highly trained climbers who perform lead climbs to reach and rescue stranded or injured climbers on rock faces

• Tactical Emergency Medical Support – medical professionals who provide critical care in challenging urban environments

• Dive Team – specialized underwater search and recovery operations

Participants can choose between the timed 5K run or the 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk, making the event welcoming for runners, families, and supporters of all ages.

After the race, stay for the Rescue Rally, where attendees can meet team members, see rescue equipment up close, and watch a helicopter demonstration (weather permitting) showcasing how these teams operate during real missions.

All proceeds benefit Friends of LVMPD Search & Rescue, helping fund training, equipment, and mission support for these volunteer teams who donate thousands of hours each year to protect our community.

Come run, walk, and support the heroes who answer the call when someone is lost or in need.

Event details and schedule

Parking

Parking will be provided for registered runners. The parking lot will open 1 hour prior to the event start time. Anyone arriving after 7:30 AM will be required to pay the park entry fee of $10.

Opening Ceremony & Race Start

The Opening Ceremony will begin at 7:15 AM, with the race starting at approximately 7:30 AM.

The 1-Mile Walk will begin after all runners have crossed the start line, approximately 10–15 minutes after the race start.

Rescue Rally & Helicopter Demonstration

The Rescue Rally and Helicopter Demonstration will begin at 9:00 AM, weather permitting.
