City of Bettendorf's
4th of July Parade

Please note that the city will only allow 70 parade entries, and they will be accepted in person AND online and will be given preference on a first come, first serve basis.
Line-up will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Alter Building parking lot. 23rd Street will be closed at State Street. Use the 21st Street and State Street intersection to enter line-up area. Do not use 23rd Street as an entrance. Members of the Civil Air Patrol will assist participants. In case of inclement weather, please visit www.bettendorf.org for a parade status report.
Cash prizes will be awarded and mailed to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. Ambassadors will judge the parade from the parking lot of K&K Hardware. Prize money will be distributed as follows: 1st place $75.00, 2nd place $50.00, and 3rd place $35.00.
All candy must be passed out person to person. Dropping of candy in front of persons along the parade route is permitted, as long as the viewer is sitting / standing on the curb, or in the grassy area along the parade route. Violators will be given one warning. After the first warning, the entry will be removed from the parade and directed off the parade route at a safe location. A record of entries will be kept. If an entry is found to violate this directive in any future parade, they will be banned from participating in any future parades in Bettendorf, Iowa.
NO handing out of paper products of any kind. (Fliers, pamphlets, etc.).

Participants will be contacted by email July 3rd with parade line-up details.
Lineup will BEGIN at 8:30am and END at 9:45am. Once line-up ends, all streets will be closed, and no one will be allowed to enter or exit the lineup. Please avoid arriving early, as no assistance will be available. If you arrive early, please proceed no further than the rear of the Alter Building.
Group A: High School Bands, Dance Teams, and Cheer Teams MUST Park and/or drop off at the Ascentra Credit Union. From there, walk to the following areas to prepare for lineup: BHS will meet east of the Alter building and PVHS will meet north of the Alter building.
Group B: Vehicles NOT IN the parade MUST enter the Waterfront Convention Center at 20TH STREET and park in the center's parking lot. (Ex: parade walkers/riders, parents/guardians of parade participants, etc.) Then walk over to the lineup area at the Alter Building, tell the Civil Air Patrol Volunteer your lineup number, and they will direct you where to go in the Alter's parking lot.
Group C: Vehicles/Floats/Trailers IN the parade MUST enter the Alter parking lot at 21ST STREET - tell the Civil Air Patrol Volunteer your lineup number, and they will direct you where to go in the Alter's parking lot.
Floats/Trailers (upon finishing the parade route) MUST enter the Alter parking lot at 21ST STREET, drive all the way to the back of the parking lot and take a left onto the dirt road. Follow this road to 26TH STREET and take a left. Signs will be posted to direct you. This will allow you to exit the parade area more successfully afterwards. When leaving the event, all participants can use this route to exit.
