About this event
Wondering why your dog doesn’t know that you're thinking when you move, change directions, change your pace, or stop? This is the class for you! Come learn new skills that will help you support your dog as they learn to follow your movement cues while staying in an appropriate space and position. Tricks for limiting verbal command overflow and enhancing body language will help build and strengthen teamwork and encourage the handler and dog to be in sync for a more natural partnership. Sequences will include: walking, turning, stopping, changing directions and pace, as well as dog and handler body positions. Simple courses will provide a fun, and entertaining, opportunity to use the skills and maneuvers as gradual distractions are introduced. All activities will be based on movement and rhythm. Bring a sense of humor and suggest your favorite dancing tunes to the instructor ahead of time. Homework and practice are necessary components of this course. Owners should come prepared to put in the work; this is not magic. Suggestions, tools, tips and tricks will be provided by the instructor for the owner to consider and practice. Please bring poop bags, a flat buckle or martingale collar, or harness.A New Trix style head halter may be appropriate for some dogs, please consult the instructor prior to first class if your dog needs something more than a flat collar. Water dishes will need a towel under them and the owner is responsible for all puddles, water or waste. Bring plenty of treats, more than you expect is the correct amount. High value treats such as deli turkey and cheese work best. Dogs will be at least one year old at the beginning of class and will need to provide age appropriate vaccinations and town license to the instructor before attending. Make ups are at the discretion of the instructor’s schedule. 3 weeks
