Discover the elegance of watercolor through the study of botanicals and still life. This six-week class invites students to deepen their technical and observational skills while exploring the delicate relationships of color, form, and light. Working both from life and photo references, we’ll practice painting flowers, plants, and everyday objects with attention to composition and detail. Students will experiment with traditional watercolor methods including wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, dry brush, blending, and lifting, while also incorporating playful, experimental techniques like salt textures, wax resist, and Saran Wrap effects. We’ll integrate color theory throughout to help you build confidence in creating balanced, luminous paintings that capture the essence of your subject.
