26. Beavers & Birds at the Big Ravine (FT-4) 6:45 am – 11:00 am Explore the small beaver pond and surrounding wetland that is a hub for biodiversity at the Big Ravine Headwaters! Some birds we may observe include various species of ducks, as well as belted kingfishers, great blue herons, sandhill cranes, sedge wrens, eastern kingbirds, eastern bluebirds, Wilson’s snipe, common yellowthroats, solitary sandpipers, and other edge-loving songbirds. Learn about beaver behavior and biology, and what it means to be 'busy as a beaver’ by seeing how they are shaping and reshaping the landscape at this site.
