About this event
Prerequisite: This is an INTERMEDIATE level class. Student must demonstrate safe gun handling, weapon system familiarity, foundational marksmanship skills, and proficiency working from a holster. Students failing to meet and maintain our safety requirements and/or who cannot meet and immediately demonstrate the minimum skills required for the specific class may be removed from training. Please ensure you have read through the class description and fully understand our prerequisites before registering. This class focuses on building a strong foundation. Students will learn how red dots work, how to properly set them up, and how to use them effectively on the range. We’ll cover basic zeroing, shooting with both eyes open, improving accuracy, and simple techniques to stay on target—even if the optic stops working. No prior red-dot experience is required. This course is ideal for shooters transitioning from iron sights or anyone wanting to gain confidence with pistol-mounted optics. ________________________________________ Course Outline: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will: · Equipment inspection and maintenance · Understanding types of red dots and mounting options · Proper sighting procedure (aka zeroing) · Application of marksmanship fundamentals · Holdover/offset · Single hand, dominant hand, and non-dominant hand shooting with a red dot · Down optic drills -What to do if your optic goes down · Advantages and limitations Required Equipment: Safe, Functioning Semi-Automatic Pistol or Revolver with red dot optic. 2-3 magazines for semi-auto pistol Strong side hip mounted or belt mounted holster. No appendix holsters. Magazine Pouch(es) Hat with brim Eye Protection: wrap around style Hearing Protection Weather appropriate clothing, to include long pants and closed toe shoes. No flip-flops. 100 rounds of ammunition Loaner guns, magazines, holsters, safety glasses and hearing protection are available.
