He has a master’s degree in Sports Medicine from the United States Sports Academy in Daphne, Alabama and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). As a coach, Dan prides himself in creating a fun, dynamic, non-threatening environment that fosters the healthy physical and mental development of all his athletes.

Along with John Hughes, Dan authored Distance Cycling: Your Complete Guide for Long Distance Cycling through Human Kinetics. Dan also served as a contributing editor for Ultra Cycling magazine, the official publication for the Ultra Marathon Cycling Association (UMCA). He’s authored training and conditioning articles specifically focused on ultra-marathon cyclists of all levels and abilities.

Dan spent four years on active duty with the United States Coast Guard, where he was a strength and conditioning instructor for the recruit-training program in Cape May, New Jersey. Dan also represented the Coast Guard in local running events, cycling races, duathlons and triathlons.

 In addition to cycling, Dan enjoys kayaking, hiking and nature photography.
