About this event
This camp introduces students to the fundamentals of autonomous navigation. Students will utilize Spike Prime hardware and the Scratch programming language, working in pairs to complete tasks on a FIRST Challenge board that is themed around ocean exploration and management. The week will conclude with a competition, which parents are welcome to attend. Matthew Milone developed Regents' co-curricular robotics programs and has taught them for the last three semesters. He also tutors math and coaches chess. Growing up, Matthew participated in FIRST robotics competitions throughout middle and high school. Due to FIRST’s emphasis on community outreach, he volunteered for approximately 200 hours of lessons, demonstrations, workshops, and other mentoring activities. After achieving a B.S. in computational mathematics from the Rochester Institute of Technology, Matthew was a professional software engineer for three years at First Trust Portfolios.
