About this event
On behalf of Maine’s children with special needs and their families, we’d like to thank you for your interest in becoming a Certified Behavioral Health Professional (BHP)! Children’s Behavioral Health Services are vital to these children and their families, and the need is great. As an integral part of the child’s treatment team, a BHP has the opportunity to make an immediate impact while helping a child grow and develop to their full potential. 12 Self-Paced Online Modules, to be completed within 6 months of the date of enrollment. 8-9 hour live session (offered in person and virtually) 2.5-hour Ethics session (offered virtually only) .75 hour OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Training In-person or blended (online with in-person skills testing) Child/Pediatric & Adult First Aid/CPR w/ AED (online only, FA/CPR is not accepted) Once certified, individuals may be eligible to work in a setting that provides BHP services, including the home, community, schools, and residential programs. Individuals seeking employment in a school setting will also be required to obtain an Ed. Tech. certification through the Maine DOE. Prerequisites High School Diploma or Equivalency 18+ years old at time of completion CASAS Reading & Comprehension Assessment* provided by Augusta Adult and Community Education This is the only training provider designated through DHHS to offer the certification in Maine. You will need to pass a background check, but that is completed after the completion of the training, as part of your application during the hiring process.
