About this event

Southeast MedWAR

MedWAR is short for Medical Wilderness Adventure Race. It is a unique event that combines wilderness medical challenges with the growing sport of adventure racing. The race was also developed as a tool for teaching and testing the knowledge, skills, and techniques of wilderness medicine, and for promoting teamwork and collegiality among competitors. MedWAR is sanctioned by North American Educational Adventure Racing (NAEAR).

The Southeast MedWAR was the original MedWAR Race. Complete with simulated helicopter crashes, alligator-filed swamps, and ever-unique scenarios, it has continued to challenge competitors for over a decade. You never know what may be around the next turn.

The Medical College of Georgia is proud to host Southeast MedWAR! Come race the oldest and largest MedWAR and put your fitness and medical knowledge to the test.

Format: The race is 12-15 miles of running through various terrains. Racers will also mountain bike, kayak, and do some basic land navigation.

Primative camping is included in your registration fee at the race site in Fort Gordon.

Please sign up early. This race tends to sell out quickly and prices increase as we get closer to the race!

Please visit www.medwar.org to read through the official MedWAR Challenge Curriculum and FAQ’s for very important details before registering for any of the races.

MEDWAR SOUTHEAST 2023 POSTPONED

The SE MedWAR team would like to extend our gratitude to all of you for your interest and support for our 2023 race. Unfortunately, several problems have come up that cannot be remedied before our race date on April 15th. We are incredibly disappointed to report that the 2023 SE MedWAR has officially been cancelled. We are determined to remedy these issues so that we can come back in 2024 and put on the best event to date.
