INTRO/ALL LEVELS POTTERY ON THE WHEEL /Michaela CooperThursdays from 6 - 9 PM
January 15th - March 12th9 Weeks
Class Fee: $325
Students will examine an array of wheel-thrown pottery techniques. The focus is on basic throwing skills as well as glazing, decorating, and firing. Pottery tools will be needed for class and can be purchased at Chastain.
Chastain offers the following firing options: ^10 Gas Reduction, ^6 and ^05 Electric Oxidation and Raku Firing.
• 1 25# bag of clay is included in your registration. Your bag of clay will be required to pick up during your first-class meeting. There is a $5 additional fee if you select Coleman Porcelain as your first “free” bag
• Students can purchase additional clay from Chastain at $27 per 25-pound bag. This cost covers glaze materials and firing expenses. Coleman Porcelain costs $32 per 25-pound bag.
o Any work made with additional purchased bags of clay will incur an additional firing and materials fee of $20 per bag. This fee will be applied when purchasing your clay.
• Students utilizing outside clay at the studio will be required to pay a $15 outside clay fee per bag of clay, with an additional $20 fee for firing and materials. Outside materials must be approved by the project coordinator.
• Beginner Pottery Tool Kits and various other tools are available for purchase in the Shop

REFUND POLICY: To receive a refund, students must submit their request at least 2 weeks before the first class. No refunds or transfers are guaranteed after this time. To withdraw from a class, you are required to email ChastainArts@AtlantaGA.gov and include your name, the class name, and your reason for withdrawal. The option to accept an account credit for the class withdrawal is preferred. If a withdrawal/refund is requested after 2 weeks prior to or after the class has begun, a $30 administration fee will be deducted and only an account credit will be processed to be used for future class registrations, clay purchases, and future purchases in our gift shop & gallery. If a class has begun at minimum enrollment, we cannot process refunds or credits after the first class has already started. If you register for a class after the session has begun, only an account credit will be processed if a withdrawal is requested. Anyone registered for a figure class with a model will be required to pay the model fee on the first day of class with cash or check to the instructor. Even if you request a withdrawal after the first day of class, you will be required to pay the model fee calculated based on enrollment on the first-class meeting. The Chastain Arts Center is not responsible for classes missed due to student absences. Please discuss any unavoidable absences with your instructor.
