Drawing Portraits Like Sargent is a hands on workshop that introduces participants to the core techniques of portrait drawing through the work of John Singer Sargent. The program combines a short introduction to Sargent’s approach with guided studio practice, allowing participants to explore how he used line, value, and confident mark making to construct expressive portraits. Participants learn the foundational principles of observational portrait drawing, then put them into practice through a focused study inspired by the work of John Singer Sargent. Using a curated selection of his drawings as reference, participants will develop their eye and bring his techniques to life on the page.
