January 13th - March 17th 10 Weeks
A basic knowledge of any painting media is a must as is drawing experience. The focus of this class is to introduce oils as a medium for painting. The rules and challenges of oil painting are quite different from water media, but oil painting needn’t be daunting. Oils provide a new kind of freedom in painting. Oil painting techniques and materials will be discussed along with developing a painting. Please bring photos from which you would like to paint. To the first class, bring a small sketch pad and pencil. Also, the photo you’re interested in painting. (Look at the supply list - we’ll talk more about that in the first class.)

Chastain Arts Center will be mask optional for the Winter 2023 Session, but masking is encouraged.
Daily temperature checking will continue to be required.
Class sizes will continue to be limited.
