About this event
Beginner students will learn traditional metalsmithing techniques like piercing, soldering, forming, texturing and bezel setting to create jewelry of their own design or an assigned project. Intermediate students are self-directed but can explore more precision-based techniques such as prong setting, chain making, forging, and hollow construction. Emphasis will be placed on proper use of tools and materials to create beautiful, well-crafted and comfortable jewelry that will last years of wear. First two classes are demo heavy then students will have time to work on their projects for the remainder of the session. The instructor will give individual and group instruction throughout. Beginners can expect to make one to three projects in a session. Studio provides metals needed for the full session. If students wish to work in silver or heavier metal gauges, supply sources will be provided in the first class. If students have items at home they wish to incorporate into their projects, please bring to first class.
