Discover how resist techniques can add texture, depth, and visual intrigue to your paintings in this hands-on two-day workshop. Through guided demonstrations and studio practice, students will explore how layering materials can transform the painting surface and create dynamic compositions. The instructor will demonstrate a variety of resist methods using oil sticks, masking techniques, acrylic paints and mediums. Students will experiment with building transparent and opaque layers, adjusting paint viscosity, and creating expressive marks with brushes as well as a variety of unconventional tools. Participants are encouraged to bring sketches or reference ideas to inspire their work, or simply arrive ready to explore and respond to the creative process. Throughout the workshop, students will receive individualized guidance as they discover how these materials interact and how resist techniques can become an expressive part of their personal painting practice.
