This course is ideal for beginners with little or no watercolor experience, as well as for artists working in other media who wish to expand their artistic practice through watercolor. Watercolor is an introductory course designed to familiarize students with the fundamentals of watercolor painting. Through demonstrations, guided exercises, and individual projects, students will explore the unique characteristics of watercolor, including transparency, layering, color mixing, brush handling, and various application techniques. Students will learn how to control water, pigment, and timing while developing an understanding of composition, value, and color relationships. Throughout the course, participants will create a variety of paintings inspired by observation, photographs, and imagination, building both technical proficiency and creative confidence. Emphasis is placed on experimentation, problem-solving, and the development of a personal approach to the medium in a supportive and encouraging environment.
