First Day Hikes are free, guided hikes offered each year on New Year’s Day. The hikes are intended to promote an alternate way of celebrating the New Year by going outside, getting some exercise, and enjoying local nature and history. Start your year off on the right foot by joining our knowledgeable park rangers, naturalists, and volunteers in one of our County’s beautiful parks.
Do you have FOMO for the First Day Hike but you need some extra shut eye? Join Ranger Turner on a leisurely afternoon hike at Quiet Waters Park. We will meet at the Sycamore Pavilion at 2pm and walk an easy paced 2 miles along the parks paved trails where we will end with a campfire and s'mores.
Sturdy footwear, binoculars for spotting wildlife, and a water bottle are recommended. Please dress for the weather. This program is free, but registration is required. Normal gate fees apply. For more information, contact Park Ranger Turner Kinsey at rpkins24@aacounty.org or 410-222-1777.
